About The Islands Chapter of the American Red Cross

The Islands Chapter of the American Red Cross began as two individual chapters; the Island County and Anacortes/San Juan Islands Chapters. Initiated by the first World War and chartered in 1918, the Chapters continued to serve the men, women, and children of our community by responding to disasters, both large and small.

These two chapters were merged into today’s Islands Chapter of the American Red Cross in 2010 in order to better meet our communities needs by sharing resources and the generous donations of our community.  The Islands Chapter serves the needs of Whidbey, Fidalgo and San Juan Islands.

Our work continues and is determined by the needs of the families, of the neighborhoods, and of the community and organizations that live and work on the islands. We provide Disaster Relief, Health & Safety Education, Armed Forces Emergency Services, International Social Services, and Volunteer Opportunities.

We welcome volunteers from our community who wish to make a difference!  Please click our volunteer link to find out about the rewarding opportunities our chapter has for volunteers just like you!

The Islands Chapter of the American Red Cross will continue to be there when disaster strikes. Come in today to learn how to be Red Cross Ready!

Our locations: in Oak Harbor at 1150 S Dock Street and in Anacortes at 2900 T Avenue
